Getting started

What does Stockful do that Shopify doesn't?
Shopify shows current stock levels but only keeps 180 days of adjustment history. It has no AI assistant, no health check, no Explain feature, no scheduled reporting, and no Slack alerts. Stockful adds an AI inventory assistant on top of daily snapshots at every location, 100+ reports, demand forecasting, native purchase orders and Slack alerts - up to 2 years of detailed daily data.
Do I need to change how I manage inventory in Shopify?
No. Stockful reads your existing Shopify inventory data in real-time via webhooks. It doesn't modify your stock levels, products, or orders. It's an analytics layer on top of what you already have.
Is my data secure?
All data is scoped to your shop using row-level security. Stockful uses Shopify's official authentication, encrypted connections, and isolated per-shop data tokens. Stockful never changes your stock levels, products, or orders - write access is used only to publish stock data to your storefront via metafields.
What happens if I uninstall?
Your data is retained for 48 hours after you uninstall the app. If you reinstall within that window, your historical data is still there. After 48 hours, data is permanently deleted.

Stocky

How do I track inventory history in Shopify?
Shopify natively tracks only 180 days of inventory adjustment history. To track daily stock levels over time - broken down by location - you need an app like Stockful. It captures automatic daily snapshots so you can see trends, velocity, and sell-through rates going back up to 2 years.
Is Stockful an alternative to Stocky?
Yes. Stocky is being removed from Shopify on August 31, 2026, along with its API. Stockful replaces what you used Stocky for - daily inventory snapshots, per-location analytics, 100+ built-in reports and Slack alerts it never offered - and adds native purchase orders with suppliers, receiving and true landed cost. Its import wizard brings your Stocky suppliers, price lists, purchase-order history and stock adjustments across. See our full comparison at https://stockful.app/stocky-alternative.
How is Stockful different from inventory history apps?
Most inventory history apps only track stock levels over time. Stockful combines historical tracking with 100+ built-in reports, Slack alerts, ABC analysis, demand forecasting, dead stock detection, and reorder recommendations - all in one app. Plans start at $19.99/month with a 14-day free trial.
I make what I sell. Stocky never tracked my ingredients, does Stockful?
Yes. Stocky had no bills of materials at all, so makers moving off it have been running their ingredients in a spreadsheet alongside it. Stockful holds materials such as flour, wax, fabric or packaging as their own catalogue with their own stock, cost, supplier and lead time, records what each product is made of, and runs production batches that consume material and write the finished goods back to Shopify. Reordering works out what to buy from your open batches and your sales forecast together. It is on every plan at no extra cost. There is no expiry dating or lot traceability.

Pricing

How much do the AI features cost?
Nothing on top of your plan. Every plan ($19.99 Starter / $39.99 Growth / $79.99 Pro per month) includes the full set of AI features - assistant, health check, explain, anomaly detection, and the smart setup wizard. Each plan also includes a per-billing-cycle allowance of merchant-initiated AI interactions: 100 on Starter, 500 on Growth, 1,000 on Pro. Background AI work (anomaly hypotheses, weekly digest, smart setup analysis) doesn't count against your allowance.
What are "tracked SKUs"?
Tracked SKUs are variants that have inventory tracking enabled in Shopify and aren't excluded by your tracking rules. If you have 5,000 products but only 2,000 have tracking enabled, you're only using 2,000 tracked SKUs toward your plan limit. Each tracked SKU can have per-SKU overrides for lookback periods, lead times, and safety stock levels.
What if I exceed my plan's SKU or location limits?
You can add extra SKUs at $5 per 500 SKUs/month and extra locations at $5 per location/month. Overages are billed automatically so you never lose access to your data. You can also upgrade to a higher plan at any time.

Features & AI

Does Stockful use AI?
Yes. Stockful includes an AI assistant you can chat with, a one-click health check that scans 5 dimensions of your shop and surfaces 25 specific findings, an Explain button on every metric, anomaly detection with one-sentence hypotheses, and a smart setup wizard. Every plan includes the full set of AI features, with a per-billing-cycle usage allowance sized to the plan.
How does Stockful's forecasting work?
Stockful fits five candidate models to every SKU at every location - a flat baseline, trend, day-of-week, annual seasonality, and an intermittent-demand model for slow or sporadic sellers - trained on up to 2 years of your Shopify sales history. Seasonal patterns like Christmas lines or BFCM spikes are learned per product, with no manual 'same period last year' setup.
How accurate are Stockful's forecasts?
Stockful grades its own forecasts. A richer model is adopted only when it beats the simple baseline on a backtest of that SKU's own history - so a forecast can never get worse by being fancier - and accuracy is re-measured continuously against actual sales. Safety stock is computed statistically from your chosen service level, accounting for both demand variability and supplier lead-time variability, rather than a flat buffer.
Do I have to use the AI features?
No. There's a master AI toggle in settings, and the opt-in subscriptions for weekly AI summaries and anomaly Slack alerts are off by default. Even with AI on, nothing is sent anywhere until you actually invoke an AI feature.
How is my data used by the AI?
When you use an AI feature, the relevant context from your shop is sent to our model provider for inference only - it is not used to train models. No data leaves your shop without an AI feature being invoked. Full details are in our privacy policy.
How does per-location tracking work?
During setup, you choose which locations to track. Stockful then captures inventory levels, sales data, and analytics for each variant at each location independently. You can compare locations, spot imbalances, and get transfer suggestions.
Can I get reports delivered automatically?
Yes. Any report, built-in or one you built yourself, can be scheduled for automatic delivery to email, Slack, a webhook, Google Sheets or Airtable. Run history records every scheduled run, its outcome and who received it. You can also view any report live in the app.
What is ABC analysis for Shopify inventory?
ABC analysis categorises your products by revenue contribution: A items (top ~80% of revenue), B items (next ~15%), and C items (bottom ~5%). Stockful runs ABC analysis automatically across your Shopify inventory so you can focus replenishment efforts on the products that matter most.
Can Stockful track raw materials if I make what I sell?
Yes, on every plan. Materials such as flour, wax, fabric or packaging are held as their own catalogue with their own stock, unit of measure, cost, supplier and lead time, because Shopify only tracks the finished product. Bills of materials record what one unit takes and can be multi-level, so a cookie made of dough made of flour is followed all the way down. Production batches reserve material when they start and consume what was actually used when they close, writing the finished goods back to Shopify. There is no expiry dating or lot traceability.
